Trump Pardons Former Nevada Politician Michele Fiore Amid Legal Troubles
Las Vegas, NV — April 24, 2025 — President Donald Trump has granted a pardon to Michele Fiore, a former Republican politician in Nevada, who previously faced sentencing on federal charges of wire fraud. Fiore, who served as a Las Vegas city councilwoman and state lawmaker, was found guilty in October on multiple counts of defrauding the public by misusing over $70,000 raised for a memorial statue of a slain police officer.
Fiore, 54, used the funds for personal expenses, including cosmetic surgery and her daughter’s wedding, which federal prosecutors described as an exploitation of tragedy for personal gain. Following her conviction, she was out of custody prior to her sentencing, slated for next month, and had been facing decades in prison. Her pardon comes shortly after her unsuccessful attempt to secure a new trial.
In a Facebook post, Fiore expressed her appreciation for Trump, asserting that her legal troubles were part of a long-standing conspiracy against her by the government and some media outlets. The Nevada Democratic Party criticized the pardon as “reckless,” describing it as disrespectful to law enforcement.
Fiore, who lacks a law degree, was appointed as a judge in Nye County in 2022 despite her ongoing legal issues and was elected to finish a judge’s unexpired term last June. The state Commission on Judicial Discipline is currently reviewing her suspension. Known for her controversial positions, including rallies in support of the Bundy family, Fiore’s political future remains uncertain as she plans to resume her judicial duties next week. The Nye County’s response to her suspension is pending.
