Churchill County High School Announces 2025 Greenwave Hall of Fame Inductees

Churchill County High School proudly unveiled its 2025 Greenwave Hall of Fame class on Wednesday, featuring four distinguished athletes, three championship baseball teams, a celebrated coach, and two notable contributors. The induction ceremonies will take place from September 25-27.

Steve Heck, Hall of Fame president, expressed excitement, stating, “This year’s class embodies the very best of our athletic history with accomplishments spanning multiple decades and sports.” He emphasized the importance of honoring individuals and teams who reflect the enduring spirit of Greenwave athletics.

The athletes being inducted include:

  • Thomas Diaz Jr. (2005), a state wrestling champion known for his impressive record of 126-30.
  • Elizabeth Lewis (2005), a celebrated four-sport athlete earning all-state accolades in basketball.
  • Rileigh Ricken (2014), who helped secure three state softball championships and set multiple school records.
  • Ali (Tedford) Connors (2015), a standout in volleyball, basketball, and softball, leading her teams to state championships during her career.

The honored teams include the 1966, 1967, and 1971 baseball squads, each securing state championships under various coaches’ leadership.

Coach Anne Smith, recognized for her impressive track record, guided the Lady Wave to four state championships and maintains a remarkable winning record.

Contributors Orval “Sonny” Fowler Jr. and Kenneth Norcutt have also made significant impacts. Fowler supported wrestling initiatives and was an avid Greenwave fan, while Norcutt gained national recognition as a top bull rider during his high school years.

The festivities will kick off with a social mixer on September 25, followed by a recognition ceremony on September 26 before the Greenwave football game, culminating in a private dinner and induction ceremony on September 27.
