Press Release: Hearing on Michele Fiore’s Suspension as Judge Concludes
A crucial hearing regarding Michele Fiore’s suspension from her role as a Pahrump judge took place recently, following the expiration of her presidential pardon from Donald Trump. Fiore, a former Las Vegas councilwoman and assemblywoman, faced charges of conspiracy and wire fraud connected to funds raised for a memorial statue honoring officer Alyn Beck, who was tragically killed in the line of duty in 2014. Prosecutors alleged that Fiore misused donations for personal expenses, including rent and plastic surgery.
Following her indictment, the Nevada Commission on Judicial Discipline suspended Fiore. Defense attorney Paola Armeni argued that the commission should not continue the suspension, citing that judging actions taken before Fiore’s judicial tenure could set a dangerous precedent for all judges.
Despite the serious allegations, Fiore has garnered support from prominent community figures, including former councilman Bob Coffin and Clark County Commissioner Tick Segerblom. They acknowledge her past mistakes while emphasizing her dedication to public service. Segerblom noted that everyone makes errors and stressed the importance of rehabilitation.
Armeni contended that the commission lacks jurisdiction over conduct that predates Fiore’s judicial position, noting that her conduct as a judge has not been questioned. As Fiore listened, she expressed confidence in her defense but chose not to speak during the hearing.
Fiore remains hopeful for a favorable outcome, maintaining that her return to the bench is divinely ordained. “I will walk back into my courtroom as the elected Justice of the Peace—not because man permitted it, but because God ordained it,” she stated following her pardon.
