Jim Marchant Announces Candidacy for Nevada Congressional Seat

Jim Marchant Announces Congressional Bid in Nevada’s 1st District

Former Republican Assemblyman Jim Marchant has launched his campaign for Congress, targeting the district held by long-serving Democratic Representative Dina Titus. Marchant emphasized his commitment to conservative values, stating his intent to “fight for our freedoms, secure our borders, support law enforcement, and always put America FIRST” in a recent post on social media platform X.

A businessman with a background in technology, Marchant previously sought the U.S. Senate seat held by Democrat Jacky Rosen in 2024. However, he failed to progress beyond the primary, garnering only 6.5 percent of the vote against his rival, Sam Brown. His political ambitions didn’t end there; he ran for Nevada Secretary of State in 2022, focusing on election integrity. Marchant proposed eliminating mail-in ballots, enforcing voter ID, and updating voter rolls. Despite winning the primary, he lost the general election to Democrat Cisco Aguilar by over 23,000 votes.

Marchant gained attention as a prominent election denier following his 2020 loss to Democrat Steven Horsford in Nevada’s 4th Congressional District. He echoed claims of election fraud, similar to those made by former President Trump. His controversial stance led him to organize the America First Secretary of State Coalition in 2021, aiming to elect like-minded officials committed to "voter integrity."

As he embarks on this latest political venture, Marchant appears determined to reflect the sentiment of his base while challenging the established Democratic leadership in Nevada.
