The prestigious Professional award was bestowed upon the Aer1 System, conceived by Mark Wiggins alongside collaborators Nathaniel Berman, JonPaul Turner, Scott Kingston, and John Thorpe at Aerflo. The Aer1 System is a portable carbonation device featuring three key components: the Aer1 Carbonation Cap, Aer1 Bottle, and a CO2 capsule. With a simple process of filling the bottle, loading a capsule, and pressing a spritz button, users can carbonate water to their desired taste, revolutionizing how consumers enjoy fizzy beverages on-the-go.
In the Student category, the Sirocco Hands-free Hairdryer, designed by ArtCenter College of Design student Yajurvi Haritwal, took home the award. This innovative hairdryer allows for hands-free operation, making it accessible for users with varying levels of upper limb mobility, emphasizing inclusivity in design.
Jury Captain Irina Kozlovskaya, Global Head of Industrial Design and CMF at ABB E-Mobility, led a distinguished panel of judges, including industry luminaries such as Annie Jean-Baptiste from Google and Kenneth Young from Now Studio. The jury evaluated entrants based on their ability to seamlessly blend functionality with style.
