Nevada County Supervisors Approve $415.5 Million Balanced Budget
NEVADA CITY, Calif. – The Nevada County Board of Supervisors approved a balanced budget of $415.5 million for fiscal year 2025-26 during a recent meeting, prioritizing core services and long-term financial stability. The budget, passed with a 4-1 vote, incorporates state and federal funds alongside $123.8 million in local general funds and supports 931.85 full-time equivalent staff positions.
Board Chair Heidi Hall expressed confidence in the County’s fiscal health despite uncertainties in external funding, noting that contingency plans are in place. “The Board can at any time request that pieces of the budget come back to us to be re-evaluated,” she stated, emphasizing the budget’s flexibility.
Supervisor Sue Hoek highlighted the essential services provided to residents with the available funds, affirming the County’s commitment to fiscal responsibility amid unfunded mandates.
The nearly 700-page budget details expenditures for various County operations, including public safety, health and human services, and community development. Key objectives outlined in the budget are focused on fiscal stability, emergency preparedness, economic development, housing, homelessness, recreation, and climate resilience.
