Demonstrators were seen holding a banner in St. Mark’s Square, claiming, “IF YOU CAN RENT VENICE FOR YOUR WEDDING YOU CAN PAY MORE TAX.” Local police swiftly removed the banner, while the protest formed part of a larger “No Space for Bezos” campaign that highlights ongoing concerns about the impact of wealthy tourists on the city.
