McDonald’s Introduces McGriddle as Permanent Menu Item in Australia

Sydney, Australia – After years of anticipation, McDonald’s has officially announced the addition of the McGriddle to its permanent menu in Australia, effective from July 9. The McGriddle, a beloved breakfast item in other countries, is made up of a filling—either bacon and egg or sausage and egg—encased between two pancake-like discs.

The golden arches have always been synonymous with comfort food, but the absence of the McGriddle in Australia left many fans longing for the unique sweet and savory combination that it offers. Formerly available only as a trial at select locations, customer reactions have been overwhelmingly positive.

Food blogger Lauren, who runs the account "What the Haloumi," recently sampled the McGriddle and remarked on its delightful taste, saying, “I was pleasantly surprised. Somehow, the sweet and savory items went really well together.” Her post generated a wave of excitement, especially among those who have craved the dish since moving to Australia.

Comments from fans ranged from nostalgia to enthusiasm. One Canadian expat expressed their longing for the dish, stating, "I have craved these ever since leaving." Others reminisced about their experiences with the McGriddle during time spent in countries like the U.S. and Japan.

Professional taste tester Nectorious Papi also shared the news with his followers, many of whom echoed their eagerness to try the new addition to the iconic menu.

Although Lauren appreciated the McGriddle, she noted that her favorite—a bacon and egg McMuffin—would likely remain her go-to choice: “The McGriddle will be nice to have every now and then.” With its long-awaited arrival, the McGriddle promises to stir up excitement among McDonald’s lovers across Australia.
