Teen Shot; 18-Year-Old Arrested in Carson City Incident

Carson City, NV – A 16-year-old was shot late Wednesday night, leading to the arrest of 18-year-old Oscar Vargas-Manriquez the following day, according to a press release from the Carson City Sheriff’s Office (CCSO). The victim, whose identity remains confidential, suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was initially treated at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center before being transferred to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno for surgery. Fortunately, the victim is expected to survive.

CCSO officials determined that the shooting occurred around 11:45 p.m. at an apartment complex on N. Edmonds Drive. Law enforcement made the arrest on Thursday evening at approximately 7:30 p.m. on East William Street, where a firearm was found on Vargas-Manriquez. Subsequent searches were conducted at two locations associated with the incident.

Vargas-Manriquez is currently facing several charges, including battery with a deadly weapon and discharging a firearm in public, among others. CCSO urges anyone with additional information regarding the shooting to contact them or the Secret Witness program at 775-322-4900.
