In response to the protests, the U.S. Northern Command announced the activation of an additional 2,000 National Guard troops, increasing the total to over 4,000 since protests began earlier this month. Democratic lawmakers, including Senator Alex Padilla, have expressed strong opposition to the administration’s actions, particularly after Padilla was forcibly removed during a briefing with Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. Although protests have slowed, they reignited recently when federal agents attempted to access the parking lots at Dodgers Stadium, which the team successfully blocked.
