Press Release: 6th Annual Veterans Memorial Park Golf Tournament Set for July 25
SCOTTSBORO, AL – The 6th Annual Veterans Memorial Park of Jackson County Golf Tournament will take place on Friday, July 25, at the Plantation Pointe course, part of the Goose Pond Colony Resort. Proceeds from this tournament directly support the Veterans Memorial Park, located at 1616 Heroes Dr, Scottsboro.
Debbie Ashburn, Vice President of Membership Services & Investor Relations at Mountain Lakes Chamber of Commerce, emphasized the event’s significance: "100% of the proceeds go directly toward the operation and maintenance of the park, ensuring it remains a place of pride and remembrance for generations." Jim Olyniec, President of the Board of Directors for the Veterans Memorial Park, noted the importance of the annual fundraising event, which supports the park’s activities and additions, including the recently dedicated Fallen Soldier Memorial, featuring a poignant Battlefield Cross statue.
In the past year, the park has also served as a valuable educational resource, with 160 students from five county schools learning about U.S. military history. Tours are guided by veterans, further enriching this interactive experience.
The tournament format will be a 4-Person Scramble, costing $100 per player or $400 per team, which includes range balls, lunch, drinks, snacks, and a mulligan package. Notably, veterans will receive an additional mulligan package this year. Cash prizes and door prizes will also be awarded.
Check-in begins at 10:30 a.m., followed by lunch at 11 a.m., and a shotgun start at noon. The first 32 registered and paid teams will be accepted. Olyniec is seeking sponsors for door prizes, who will be recognized with signage at the event.
For registration and sponsorship details, visit the Veterans Memorial Park of Jackson County Facebook page or contact Jim Olyniec at 256-599-3457 or Rick Roden at 256-628-1212.
