Press Release: Nevada Sports Net Debuts High School Sports Year in Review Show
Nevada Sports Net is excited to announce the premiere of its High School Sports Year in Review show tonight at 6, 8, and 10 p.m. The program will honor outstanding athletes and highlight significant achievements from the past year.
Among the accolades is the prestigious Girls Athlete of the Year award, presented to Galena High School’s standout runner, Eleanor Raker. A true icon in Nevada high school athletics, Raker’s accomplishments in cross country and track and field mark her as one of the state’s most decorated athletes.
Raker’s accolades include two-time Nevada Gatorade Cross Country Athlete of the Year honors. She clinched state championships in cross country during her freshman and sophomore years and showcased her brilliance again by leading her team to a state title in 2021. In track and field, her achievements are equally impressive: she emerged victorious in multiple state events, including the 1,600 and 3,200 meters, accumulating a remarkable nine state titles and nine additional individual regional championships throughout her high school career.
Raker currently holds the large-class state record for the 3,200 meters and ranks fourth for the 1,600 meters in her classification, solidifying her legacy in Nevada sports history. Recently, Raker decided to pursue her collegiate track career with Air Force, having initially committed to the University of New Mexico.
