Nevada Wolf Pack Football Secures Record Paycheck: $1.85 Million in Ohio State Game
The Nevada Wolf Pack football team is set to earn its largest single-game paycheck in history, receiving $1.85 million for a matchup against Ohio State in 2030. Originally scheduled for 2029, the game was postponed to accommodate Ohio State’s scheduling commitments with Navy, Youngstown State, and Charlotte.
This record-breaking payout surpasses the previous record of $1.6 million earned during the 2023 season opener at USC. In addition to the Ohio State game, the Wolf Pack announced two other non-conference matchups: a road game at Utah in 2028 and a home game against Idaho State in 2027.
Nevada will earn $800,000 for the game at Utah, which, while below the average payout for a road game against a Power 4 opponent, benefits from the short travel distance from Reno. Conversely, hosting Idaho State will see Nevada paying $415,000, marking the highest amount ever allocated for a home game against an FCS school. The contract includes provisions for ticket allocations and a cancellation policy.
For the 2025 season, Nevada is scheduled to play at Penn State for $1.45 million, alongside other matchups that promise a total of over $1 million in game guarantees.
As the Wolf Pack augments its non-league schedule with lucrative opportunities, it positions itself for financial growth, demonstrating resilience in a competitive landscape. This strategic planning, alongside the recent game contract restructuring, underscores Nevada’s commitment to enhancing its athletic program while maximizing revenue. As the football team gears up for the future, fans and stakeholders can anticipate an exciting slate of games ahead.
