Local High School Golf Stars Shine in 2023 Season
The 2023 high school golf season wrapped up with outstanding performances across the board, highlighting the talents of young athletes from various schools. Key players included Bishop Gorman’s Scott Boschee, who secured second in the Class 5A Mountain League and tied for fifth at the state tournament. Doral Academy’s Luke Cheplak led his team to victory in the 4A Desert League and finished second at the state championship.
4A standout Drake Harvey of Sky Pointe continued his reign, clinching his third consecutive individual state title and is committed to BYU. Alongside him, Coronado’s Anderson Lee was named the 5A player of the year, taking first in the Desert League and winning the region’s individual title.
Andrew Stout from Shadow Ridge achieved remarkable success by winning the 5A state individual title. Doral Academy’s Andrew Grisnik earned Coach of the Year honors, leading the Dragons to their second consecutive 4A team title.
The second team included notable players such as Coronado’s Brent Chung and Bishop Gorman’s Cameron Combado, while several others received honorable mentions. This season showcased an array of talent, promising a bright future for high school golf in the area.
