Press Release: Wood Pile Fire in Sparks Prompts Emergency Response
Sparks, NV – Emergency responders were called to a significant wood pile fire at 2512 D Street on Thursday evening around 5:30 p.m. The Sparks Fire Department arrived to find a large blaze emitting heavy smoke and threatening nearby power poles, buildings, and vehicles.
While the City of Sparks initially reported that a building was involved, this has not yet been confirmed with Reno Fire officials. Two individuals were transported to a local hospital; their injuries have not been disclosed. A nearby dog was safely evacuated during the incident.
Fire personnel will remain on site for an extended period to manage cleanup and mop-up efforts. Authorities are urging the public to avoid the area. Alongside fire crews, the Sparks Police Department, Nevada State Police, and NV Energy are assisting in the response.
View Street has been closed near the fire location, while NV Energy cut power to a nearby pole, leaving approximately 350 customers without electricity as crews continue their operations. The cause of the fire remains undetermined, with an investigation currently underway. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
