Nevadans Stand Ready to Care for Aging Parents, Yet Financial Concerns Loom
LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A recent survey by Choice Mutual reveals that Nevada residents are among the most prepared in the nation to take on caregiving for aging parents. With 49% of Nevadans expressing confidence in their ability to care for their parents when needed, the state ranks 10th in caregiver readiness nationwide.
However, the survey also highlights significant financial concerns tied to caregiving duties. A striking 67% of respondents voiced worries about the potential financial strain that could arise as they fulfill these responsibilities.
In terms of preferred living arrangements, the survey found that 37% of Nevadans would opt for their aging parents to live either with them or another family member. This statistic underscores a prevailing sentiment among respondents to maintain close family ties during the caregiving process.
As the population ages, these findings reflect both an admirable readiness to support aging family members and an urgent need to address the financial challenges that accompany caregiving in Nevada. With high levels of preparedness tempered by economic concern, the landscape of caregiving in the Silver State is complex and evolving.
