Nevada State Treasurer Zach Conine Declares Candidacy for Attorney General in 2026

Zach Conine to Run for Nevada Attorney General in 2026

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Nevada State Treasurer Zach Conine has announced his intention to run for attorney general in the 2026 election, setting the stage for a potential Democratic primary showdown with state Senate Majority Leader Nicole Cannizzaro. Conine, who has served as treasurer since 2018, is term-limited in his current position. Incumbent Democratic Attorney General Aaron Ford is also term-limited and has declared his candidacy for governor.

A graduate of UNLV’s William S. Boyd School of Law, Conine has been a member of the State Bar of Nevada since 2015. His previous political experience includes a narrow victory over ex-Las Vegas Councilman Bob Beers in the 2018 treasurer election. Conine emphasized his proactive approach to governance in his announcement video, declaring, “If [Trump or Musk] messes with Nevada, we will see them in court.”

Rep. Dina Titus endorsed Conine, praising his commitment to protecting Nevadans from unjust federal policies. Meanwhile, Cannizzaro, also a Boyd Law graduate, remains focused on legislative work before deciding her future in public service. Filing for office begins in March, with the primary scheduled for June and the general election in November.
