ICE Arrests 52 Undocumented Immigrants in Northern Nevada Operation
Reno, NV – The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced the arrest of 52 undocumented immigrants during a focused operation aimed at enhancing public safety in northern Nevada. Conducted between May 5 and May 8, the operation targeted areas including Carson City and Reno and was supported by various federal and local law enforcement agencies.
Among the arrested individuals were several with serious criminal records. Notable cases included Ernesto Lopez-Barrios, 50, from El Salvador, convicted of child molestation and DUI; Luis Urbina-Bucio, 36, from Mexico, convicted of battery and illegal weapon possession; and Ariberto Roque-Sanchez, 32, from Mexico, convicted of statutory sexual seduction. Rodolfo Hernandez-Yanez, 52, also from Mexico, was arrested after being convicted of involuntary manslaughter.
ICE highlighted the operation’s role in bolstering public safety and encouraged undocumented individuals with criminal backgrounds to self-deport using the CBP Home app.
The arrests prompted public backlash, with about 40 individuals rallying outside a federal building in Reno, demanding answers and transparency regarding ICE’s actions. Meanwhile, community members are urged to report suspicious activities to enhance local safety.
