Douglas High Hosts Northern Nevada Regional Track Meet
Douglas High School showcased its athletic prowess during the 2025 Northern Nevada regional track and field meet, held Friday and Saturday. The Tiger girls secured a commendable fifth place with 65 points, while the boys team finished ninth with 32 points. Notable performances included Katelyn Coons, who excelled in the hurdles, finishing second in both the 100-meter (15.84) and 300-meter hurdles (46.76). Her efforts combined with the girls 4×200 meter relay team, consisting of Alexsa Reyes, Coons, Rachel Girdner, and Anna Patmont, who finished third with a time of 1:45.02, qualified them for the state tournament.
Freshman Bryani Ono made waves in the long jump, securing fourth place with a leap of 16 feet, two inches, thus earning her state qualification. Additionally, Grace Strabala-Karosich shined in the 200-meter dash, finishing third at 25.45.
For the boys, Luke Davis emerged as a standout, qualifying for state in both the 1,600 meters and 3,200 meters with times of 4:24.35 and 9:43.25, respectively. The boys 4×400 meter relay team finished fourth at 3:28.59, also earning a trip to state. As teams prepare for the state tournament, Douglas High’s athletes are eager to continue their successful journey.
