Carson High Track Stars Shine at Regional Championships
Carson High School’s track and field team had a standout performance at the Class 5A North regional meet held at Douglas High School. Senior Anne Davis captured the regional title in the girls 100-meter hurdles with an impressive time of 15.78 seconds, securing her spot at the state meet. On the boys’ side, senior Sawyer Macy triumphed in the 3,200-meter race, narrowly clinching victory with a time of 9:43.11, edging out Douglas’ Luke Davis who finished just behind at 9:43.25.
Both the boys’ and girls’ 4×800 relay teams are also heading to Las Vegas, with the girls’ team—comprised of Hannah Budd, Nastasia Sulprizio, Vea Miner, and Allison Peachay—finishing third in 10:06.68. The boys’ relay team, featuring Sean Thornton, Alex Miner, Quinn Kuchnicki, and Jaren Thornburg, also claimed third place with a time of 8:17.84.
In the broader competition, Galena emerged as the boys’ team champion with 159 points while Spanish Springs led the girls’ standings with a score of 148. Additional coverage of Davis’ and Macy’s impressive performances will be available online and in Wednesday’s Nevada Appeal.
