Tensions Rise in Nevada Delegation Over Land Sale Amendment
A dramatic week unfolded within Nevada’s congressional delegation following Rep. Mark Amodei’s (R-NV) controversial amendment to a reconciliation bill, mandating the sale of public lands in Clark County—territory outside his jurisdiction. The change has sparked discontent among delegation members, with Democrats expressing open frustration.
As the state gears up for the 2026 House races, early predictions indicate turbulent waters ahead. Republicans have struggled in the Las Vegas area during the past four election cycles, with some candidates facing scrutiny, including Dan Rodimer, now facing murder charges. Redistricting, facilitated by Democrats in 2021, has fortified incumbents Susie Lee (D-NV) and Steven Horsford (D-NV), reshaping the electoral landscape.
Lee’s Congressional District 3 has attracted six GOP challengers, with Marty O’Donnell, a video game composer and former candidate, leading in funding—having already invested $1 million in his campaign. Other contenders include attorney Christopher Brandlin and developer Tera Anderson, reflecting a diverse Republican slate.
Meanwhile, Districts 1 and 4 appear less competitive, with incumbents Dina Titus and Horsford improving their electoral margins. Challengers, however, continue to emerge.
