Wolf Pack Advances to Mountain West Semifinals

Nevada Softball Dominates Boise State in Mountain West Championship Opener

San Diego, CA – On May 9, 2025, Nevada’s No. 1-ranked softball team opened the Mountain West Championships with an impressive 8-4 victory over No. 4 Boise State at SDSU Softball Stadium. Starting pitcher Hailey McLean earned her 17th win of the season, tying her for the fifth-most wins in Wolf Pack history.

The game started tense, with the Broncos loading the bases in the first, but McLean rebounded effectively, limiting damage throughout the early innings. Nevada finally broke the scoring seal in the fourth inning, capitalizing on a pitching change with a series of hits led by Saige Alfaro and Tatum Maytorena.

The Pack expanded their lead in the sixth inning, showcasing a potent offensive display with five consecutive hits, ultimately pushing their lead to 8-2. Despite a late rally from Boise State, which included three runs in the seventh, Nevada closed out the game efficiently, with McLean striking out five batters over six innings.

With this win, the Wolf Pack advances to face No. 3 Fresno State tomorrow at noon, having swept the Bulldogs in their regular-season series. The victory also marked the program’s 41st win of the season, the second most in its history.
