Rep. Dina Titus Launches Congressional Wild Horse Caucus to Promote Humane Treatment of Wild Horses

Washington, D.C. – On Thursday, Rep. Dina Titus announced the formation of the Congressional Wild Horse Caucus, aiming to advocate for more humane federal policies concerning wild horses and burros, particularly those residing in Nevada. With over 30,000 wild horses and burros in the state—accounting for more than half of the nation’s total—Titus emphasized the need for improved management practices.

"Nevada is home to more than 30,000 wild horses and burros—icons of the American West that deserve humane treatment," Titus stated. "The bipartisan Wild Horse Caucus aims to establish better management protocols through the Bureau of Land Management."

A strong advocate for animal welfare, Titus has consistently championed legislation intended to end the Bureau of Land Management’s controversial helicopter roundups and promote the use of fertility control as a more humane alternative. Through the caucus, she hopes to elevate awareness in Washington, D.C., regarding effective management solutions for wild horse populations.

Joining Titus as co-chairs of the caucus are Rep. David Schweikert (R-Ariz.), Rep. Steve Cohen (D-Tenn.), and Rep. Juan Ciscomani (R-Ariz.). Their collective effort is poised to foster bipartisan support for the protection and humane treatment of these iconic animals.
