Press Release: Northern Nevada Students to Host Giant Farmers Market at State Legislature
Carson City, NV – On May 15th, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Nevada State Legislature grounds will transform into one of the nation’s largest farmers markets, as 150 students from northern Nevada showcase their hard work at Green Our Planet’s third annual Northern Nevada Giant Student Farmers Market. This event is a culmination of educational efforts aimed at fostering hands-on learning experiences in science, conservation, nutrition, and business skills.
Green Our Planet, a prominent non-profit organization, currently serves over 416 Nevada-based schools, libraries, and community organizations, impacting more than 200,000 students statewide. Through its innovative school garden and hydroponics STEM programs, the organization is dedicated to teaching students about sustainability, financial literacy, and real-world applications of their classroom knowledge.
Operating in 16 of Nevada’s 17 counties, Green Our Planet has expanded its reach to over 1,200 schools across the United States, engaging students in meaningful educational experiences that promote the importance of local agriculture and environmental stewardship.
The upcoming farmers market at the state capitol presents a unique opportunity for students to not only share the fruits of their labor but also to connect with the community while learning valuable skills that will serve them well into the future.
