Gunfire at Glendale, Arizona Restaurant Leaves Up to 9 Injured, Authorities Report

On Sunday night in Glendale, Arizona, a chaotic shooting incident occurred, leaving around nine people injured when multiple shooters opened fire. The shooting, reported near 57th Drive and Lamar Road, started around 7:45 p.m. At a press conference, Glendale police spokesperson Officer Moroni Menendez confirmed that the number of victims was still being assessed, noting that it was “more than three” and closer to nine.

Witnesses described a family-friendly Cinco de Mayo event at the restaurant El Camarón Gigante when the shooting erupted. One unnamed witness recalled hearing over 20 shots in about 15 to 20 seconds, followed by a brief pause and then approximately 10 more shots. After witnessing the chaos, this individual assisted a wounded woman who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and observed paramedics performing intensive chest compressions on several victims.

Menendez mentioned that investigators are still processing the scene, which is considered “enormous” and will require extensive efforts, possibly lasting into the daylight hours. Although multiple people were taken into custody, it remains unclear whether they are suspects, witnesses, or victims. Notably, no officers discharged their weapons during the incident. Menendez assured the public that the area was deemed safe following the event. The investigation continues as police work to unravel the details and circumstances surrounding this alarming shooting.
