CCCTC’s Automotive Technology Program: Empowering Future Technicians
SALEM—Established in 1977, the Columbiana County Career and Technical Center (CCCTC) has been pivotal in educating local students in various technical fields. In the wake of the pandemic, significant renovations have transformed the facility, aligning lab settings with industry needs and introducing advanced technology for a modern learning experience.
One of the standout programs is Automotive Technology, now led by instructor Brian Neff, a seasoned professional with over two decades of industry experience. Since his hire, Neff has prioritized hands-on training and real-world applications, ensuring students graduate equipped not just with technical skills, but also essential soft skills like teamwork and communication.
Current students, including exemplary senior William Boyer from Crestview Local High School, are benefiting from comprehensive training that includes earning industry-recognized credentials. Boyer has achieved all 10 ASE certifications and secured a job at Columbiana Ford through the program’s work-based learning initiative.
The CCCTC emphasizes continuous learning, offering articulation agreements with institutions like Cuyahoga Community College, providing students with college credits upon successful completion of the two-year program. Furthermore, students are certified in OSHA-10 and have opportunities to earn additional ASE credentials in various automotive specializations.
As demand for skilled automotive technicians grows, the CCCTC’s program not only equips students for immediate entry into the workforce but also builds a foundation for future educational pursuits. The program plays a vital role in supporting local businesses needing qualified personnel, making it a valuable resource for the community.
