Chadwick Arboretum’s Spring Plant Sale – A Gardener’s Haven
Central Ohio’s largest multiday plant sale is returning for its 38th edition at Chadwick Arboretum on the Ohio State University campus from May 8 to 10. This highly anticipated event showcases an impressive selection of over 16,500 plants, including perennials, annuals, vegetables, herbs, and ornamental trees.
The sale is not only about expanding your plant collection; it feels like a family reunion for gardening enthusiasts. "It’s a chance to reconnect and share gardening stories with friends and experts alike," says Mike Hogan, Extension Educator at OSU. Attendees can also engage with horticultural experts, ready to provide personalized advice on plant selection and care.
Funds raised support various educational programs and student horticultural organizations, fostering the next generation of environmental leaders. Notably, the OSU student groups will feature unique offerings like peppers and tomatoes, emphasizing local horticulture.
The event will host both live and silent auctions featuring exclusive flora, and a preview party for members will kick off the festivities on May 8. Guests can look forward to educational presentations on topics from herb gardening to growing pawpaw trees, ensuring that attendees walk away with knowledge along with their new plants.
The sale, which is open to the public on May 9 and 10, emphasizes sustainability with a variety of native and pollinator plants, catering to the environmentally conscious gardener. Free educational resources will also be available at the "Ask a Master Gardener" booth.
With food trucks on-site and a cashless payment system, this year’s Spring Plant Sale at Chadwick Arboretum promises to be a vibrant celebration of gardening in Greater Columbus. For more details, visit go.osu.edu/springplantsale.
