Nevada DMV Expands Walk-In Hours for Real ID
LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has announced expanded walk-in hours for individuals seeking a Real ID in light of upcoming travel plans. Effective May 5, residents can visit designated offices in Reno, Carson City, Sahara, Flamingo, Decatur, and Henderson from Monday to Saturday, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. A proof of commercial flight will be necessary for each visitor.
The Real ID Act, enacted by Congress in 2005, requires compliant driver’s licenses and ID cards, identifiable by a star emblem on the upper right corner. Although the deadline for obtaining a Real ID has previously been extended multiple times, the new deadline of May 7 is final and will not be postponed again.
The DMV advises that those with an unexpired military ID or passport should not rush to the offices, as these documents are already accepted at TSA checkpoints. This transition aims to ensure that travelers have adequate identification as the deadline approaches, facilitating a smoother travel experience.
