Jolene by the Sea and One8 Commune: Culinary Journeys in Goa and Indore
In the heart of Goa, Jolene by the Sea emerges as a vibrant tribute to global travels, conceived during the pandemic by former actor Amrita Arora Ladak and her husband, real estate mogul Shakeel Ladak. Collaborating with F&B veterans Gaurav Batra and Ankit Tayal, as well as Michelin-starred Chef Suvir Saran, their aim was clear: to encapsulate the charm of worldwide destinations in a local setting. Amrita describes Jolene as embodying the spirit of the cultured traveler, drawing inspiration from their explorations of quaint coastal towns in Europe. The design reflects this ethos, creating an ambiance reminiscent of a vacation home filled with artifacts that tell stories of diverse travels.
Meanwhile, across the country in Indore, cricket superstar Virat Kohli expands his culinary empire with One8 Commune. Opened last December, this latest outpost showcases Kohli’s commitment to celebrating the local culture through communal dining. Located on the High Street Apollo, the restaurant features a stunning two-storey facade and a spacious outdoor dining area that offers panoramic views of the city. Designed by Minnie Bhatt, the interiors are characterized by warm tones and natural textures, promoting an inviting atmosphere that encourages social connection. The 6,500-square-foot venue harmonizes Kohli’s vision with Indore’s culinary landscape, making it a hotspot for local food lovers and visitors alike.
Both Jolene by the Sea and One8 Commune exemplify a rich tapestry of culinary experiences that respond to the spirit of their locales while creating inviting spaces for memory-making and connection.
