Former Assemblyman Jim Marchant Announces Congressional Bid in Dina Titus’ District
Former Republican Assemblyman Jim Marchant has declared his candidacy for Congress, aiming to replace long-serving Democratic Rep. Dina Titus in Nevada’s District. In a post on social media platform X, Marchant emphasized his commitment to conservative values, stating he seeks to "bring strong, conservative leadership to Washington." His campaign focuses on securing freedoms, enhancing border security, supporting law enforcement, and prioritizing American interests.
A businessman with a background in technology, Marchant previously sought a Senate seat against incumbent Democrat Jacky Rosen in 2024, but finished with only 6.5% of the primary vote. In 2022, he ran for Nevada Secretary of State on a platform of election integrity, advocating for stricter regulations such as eliminating mail-in ballots, implementing voter ID requirements, and improving voter rolls. Despite securing his primary win, he lost the general election to Democrat Cisco Aguilar by over 23,000 votes.
Marchant has gained notoriety as a prominent election denier since losing his bid for Nevada’s 4th Congressional District in 2020 against Democratic Rep. Steven Horsford. Following that defeat, he echoed claims of election fraud similar to those made by former President Donald Trump. Marchant, along with six fellow Nevada Republicans, signed false electoral certificates in December 2020, asserting Trump won Nevada despite his loss.
In 2021, he spearheaded the America First Secretary of State Coalition, aiming to elect secretaries of state who would promote voter integrity and counter perceived electoral fraud. As he embarks on this new congressional campaign, Marchant is poised to continue his focus on election reform and conservative governance.
