Gerber Teething Sticks Still Found on Nevada Shelves Despite Recall
Las Vegas, NV – Nearly three months after a recall of Gerber Baby Soothe N Chew teething sticks due to choking hazards, these products are still available in some Nevada stores. The recall, initiated on January 31, has raised concerns after injuries were reported. Last Thursday, the FDA confirmed ongoing sales, prompting the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services to inspect local retailers.
Mark Ports, a State environmental health supervisor, emphasized that if inspectors find these items, they will request voluntary removal. Otherwise, state staff will impose a legal hold on the products and facilitate their removal. Parents are urged to avoid feeding their children any of the recalled products, which include:
- Gerber Snacks for Baby Soothe N Chew® Teething Sticks, Strawberry Apple and Banana (various sizes), identified by specific UPC codes.
Consumers who encounter these products are advised to contact Gerber at 1-800-433-7237. Sarah Rogers, Nutrition Unit Deputy Bureau Chief, stressed the need for parental vigilance regarding potential hazards to children’s safety.
