Nicole Eggert Advocates for Preventative Health Amidst Breast Cancer Battle
Nicole Eggert, known for her role in "Baywatch," is using her diagnosis of Stage 2 breast cancer to encourage a preventative lifestyle. At the Women’s Cancer Research Fund Gala, the 53-year-old actress emphasized the importance of adopting disease-preventative habits, stating, "It’s very hard to be healthy here in America."
Diagnosed with breast cancer in December 2023, Eggert initially dismissed her symptoms as menopause-related, emphasizing the need for awareness and education about breast cancer. She highlighted overlooked signs, such as her bra fitting unevenly—a subtle indicator of her tumor. After her diagnosis, Eggert underwent a mastectomy, followed by chemotherapy and radiation therapy, and expressed optimism about her health, saying, "I’m doing well. I’m feeling really good."
During her journey, she shifted her focus from fear to empowerment through education, urging others facing cancer to become informed. "If you do find yourself with the diagnosis, it’s about using modern medicine along with lifestyle changes," she advised.
Eggert has become an advocate for cancer awareness and actively participates in fundraising galas like An Unforgettable Evening, which supports the Women’s Cancer Research Fund. She shared, "It’s a community that really embraced me… giving back and getting involved is everything."
Despite the challenges of her illness, Eggert remains proactive in managing her health, believing that taking charge has kept her motivated. As she continues her battle against cancer, her journey serves as a reminder of the crucial role of prevention, awareness, and community support in combatting health challenges.
