Nevada to Host 2026 Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Championships
Reno, NV – Nevada Athletics, in partnership with the Reno-Sparks Convention & Visitors Authority, is set to host the Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Championships in 2026. This marks a significant return for the state, as it has not hosted a conference indoor championship meet since the WAC Championships in 2001 and 2002. The last Mountain West championship event held in Nevada was the baseball tournament in 2019.
The championship will take place over three days from February 26-28, 2026, and will highlight the newly opened Reno-Tahoe Indoor Track, which became operational in December 2024. This state-of-the-art facility, constructed by Mondo—renowned for building Olympic tracks over the past 40 years—is World Athletics certified. It stands as one of only three venues on the West Coast equipped to host high-level athletic events.
The return of championship events to Nevada showcases the state’s commitment to enhancing its athletic infrastructure and promoting competitive sports within the Mountain West Conference. (University of Nevada contributed to this report.)
