Nevada Street Bridge Dedication Pays Tribute to Longtime Nevada City Native and City Engineer

Nevada City Honors Bill Falconi with Bridge Dedication

Nevada City, CA – In a heartfelt ceremony on Friday, Nevada City paid tribute to William “Bill” Falconi, a revered figure in the community and longtime City Engineer, by dedicating the new Nevada Street Bridge in his name. Although the bridge is not yet open to drivers, friends, family, and colleagues gathered to celebrate Falconi’s 52 years of service to his hometown.

Mayor Gary Petersen emphasized Falconi’s extensive contributions, noting his role in preserving the city’s character while overseeing numerous infrastructure projects, including the installation of iconic gaslamps in downtown. "Bill’s contributions to Nevada City are vast and enduring," Petersen remarked, highlighting Falconi’s dedication to both engineering and historical preservation.

City officials and community members shared anecdotes and jokes, celebrating Falconi’s legacy. Vice Mayor Adam Kline humorously recalled taking Falconi’s daughter to prom, while Council Member Daniela Fernandez praised his lasting impact, saying, "You’ve poured your brain power… into Nevada City."

As the ceremony concluded, Falconi expressed gratitude for the honor, reminiscing about his childhood on the old bridge. "It’s humbling to be bestowed with this; I never expected it," he said, thanking all who supported him throughout his career.
