Nevada Men’s Basketball Lands UC Riverside Transfer Joel Armotrading
The Nevada men’s basketball team has bolstered its roster by securing a commitment from Joel Armotrading, a 6-foot-10, 225-pound center previously with UC Riverside. The announcement was made by Armotrading himself via social media on Wednesday. With six years of college eligibility, Armotrading joins Nevada after an extensive basketball journey that includes stints at the College of Southern Idaho, Cal Poly, and UC Riverside.
Armotrading’s collegiate career has spanned several seasons, highlighted by impressive stats during his last year at UC Riverside. He started 31 of 33 games, averaging 5.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks in about 22 minutes per game, while maintaining a shooting percentage of 60.2% from the field. His standout performances included a high of 16 points and a double-double of 14 rebounds against UC San Diego. UC Riverside concluded the last season with a record of 21-13, finishing third in the Big West Conference.
Armotrading’s addition is particularly crucial for Nevada, as the team aims to strengthen its center position, which previously lacked depth. Until now, the only returning big man was Jeriah Coleman, who has limited experience at the college level. Nevada has also signed Elijah Price from Fresno State and Kaleb Lowery from The Master’s University, yet Armotrading’s traditional center role offers essential support.
This recruitment marks Armotrading as the 11th scholarship player for the 2025-26 Nevada roster, with the potential for future expansions. As NCAA regulations evolve, teams may be allowed to add more scholarship players, increasing the depth and competitiveness of the roster moving forward.
