USA Lacrosse is partnering with the Las Vegas Desert Dogs and Nevada State Senator Fabian Doñate to introduce Senate Bill 305, aimed at officially sanctioning high school lacrosse as a sport in Nevada. The bill, introduced to the Nevada Senate Committee on Education, requires the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association to create regulations to recognize lacrosse as a sanctioned sport. This initiative aims to provide more opportunities for student-athletes and align Nevada’s high school sports system with the professional lacrosse scene.
The growth of lacrosse in the United States, including the recent decision to include it in the 2028 Summer Olympics, highlights the sport’s rising popularity. The Las Vegas Desert Dogs believe that officially sanctioning lacrosse in Nevada will enhance local sports culture, provide a pathway for youth to excel, and offer more opportunities for student-athletes to pursue their dreams in the sport.
In addition to benefits for student-athletes, the sanctioning of lacrosse is expected to have a significant economic impact by driving tourism, boosting local economic growth, and creating new job opportunities. The Las Vegas Desert Dogs are proud to support Senate Bill 305 and are committed to collaborating with state legislators, USA Lacrosse, and the community to ensure its successful passage.
Those interested in supporting the bill can write a letter of support to SenEDU@sen.state.nv.us. The initiative is seen as a way to strengthen Nevada’s reputation as the sports and entertainment capital of the world by supporting the continued growth of lacrosse in the state.
