In Nevada, the number of registered Democrats and Republicans is almost the same, with Democrats currently leading by just two registered voters, as per the latest data from the secretary of state. Democrats account for 615,541 of the more than 2 million registered voters, while Republicans come in at 615,539. Despite this, nonpartisans remain the largest group with 725,071 registered voters.
This shift in numbers follows a period where Republicans had taken the lead for the first time in close to two decades. In March, nonpartisan registered voters saw an increase of around 22,000, while Democratic Party registered voters decreased by 1,115 and Republican voters decreased by 1,343.
Nonpartisans make up the largest percentage of total registered voters at 34.45 percent, with Democrats and Republicans tied at 29.25 percent each. This balance between the two major parties reflects the political landscape in Nevada as the state gears up for upcoming elections.
