Missouri State safety, Todric McGee, died from a possible accidental and self-inflicted gunshot wound at the age of 21. Police responded to a wellness check at his home and found him with serious injuries, leading to his death at the hospital. McGee was entering his fifth season with the Bears and had earned all-conference honors in 2023. Head coach Ryan Beard expressed shock and mourning at the loss of McGee, asking for privacy for his family and the football team. McGee was from Wichita, Kansas, and had graduated from Wichita Northwest High School. The university reported his death on Saturday, stating that he had died early in the morning from injuries sustained at home the day before. The incident is currently under investigation by the Springfield Police Department.
