Utah State defeated Nevada in a softball game with a final score of 14-4, with the game being played at Christina M. Hixson Softball Park in Reno. Nevada had a 4-1 lead through three innings, but Utah State scored 13 runs in the fourth inning, the most allowed by Nevada in one inning since 2011. Despite strong performances by Aaliyah Jenkins and Madison Clark, the Pack could not recover from the fourth-inning onslaught. Utah State’s Kya Pratt hit a grand slam as part of the historic inning.
The loss marks the most runs given up by Nevada in a game this season. Utah State’s 11 of the 14 runs were unearned, showcasing defensive struggles on Nevada’s part. Aaliyah Jenkins achieved several individual milestones during the game, including moving up on the Wolf Pack’s all-time scoring and hits lists.
Nevada will now head to New Mexico for their next series with a half-game lead over San Diego State and Fresno State. The Pack will face the Lobos in their next game.
