The Carson City Parks, Recreation & Open Space Department will be hosting an open house to gather community input on updating the Carson River Master Plan, originally published in 1996. The event will take place on April 30 at the Carson City Community Center. The goal of the updated master plan is to manage, protect, interpret, and enhance the natural and recreational resources of the Carson River. The city has been working with the National Park Service to facilitate the update. Partnering agencies will also be present at the open house to provide information on water quality, mercury, flooding, and other topics related to the river. Families are encouraged to attend, with kids having the opportunity to help design a Carson River mascot. For more information, contact lboyer@carson.org or call 775-283-7341. The event aims to engage the community in shaping the future of the Carson River.
