Former Las Vegas City Councilwoman Michele Fiore, dubbed as the “Lady Trump” for her resemblance to the former president, has been convicted of fraud after stealing donations meant for a fallen police officer’s memorial. Fiore was found guilty on six counts of wire fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud by a Nevada court.
Prosecutors accused Fiore of soliciting donations for a statue honoring Officer Alyn Beck, killed in 2014, and instead using the money for personal expenses like rent, plastic surgery, and a wedding. Testimony from over a dozen witnesses, including Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo, confirmed Fiore’s wrongdoing.
Fiore’s lawyer plans to explore appeal options but is currently focused on her sentencing. Each charge carries a maximum of 20 years in prison. Fiore, known for her far-right political views and support for Cliven Bundy during an armed standoff in 2014, also made headlines with her unsuccessful bid for the Nevada governorship in 2021, focusing on anti-establishment and pro-Trump policies.
Fiore’s case exposes a betrayal of public trust and misuse of donations intended for a fallen officer’s memorial. The conviction highlights the consequences of corruption in politics and serves as a cautionary tale for those in positions of power. The fallout from this case may impact Fiore’s political career and reputation moving forward.
