Las Vegas attorney and RNC national committeewoman, Sigal Chattah, has been appointed as Nevada’s next interim U.S. attorney, she confirmed on Friday. Chattah expressed her honor in serving the state of Nevada and her gratitude to President Trump and Attorney General Pamela Bondi for the opportunity.
Chattah will serve as interim U.S. attorney starting on April 1 until she is nominated for the role and confirmed by the U.S. Senate. Her goals include administering justice equally, prioritizing public safety, and preventing public corruption. Nevada Republican Party Chairman Michael McDonald praised her appointment, stating that she will advocate for the President’s priorities and investigate corruption in the state.
On the other hand, Nevada State Democratic Party Chair Daniele Monroe-Moreno criticized Chattah, saying she is unfit for the role due to past statements and behavior. Monroe-Moreno highlighted Chattah’s controversial remarks and legal actions, citing an inappropriate comment directed at Nevada’s first Black Attorney General, Aaron Ford.
Chattah is known for taking on high-profile cases and championing conservative causes, including lawsuits against COVID-19 restrictions, representing individuals involved in legal disputes related to elections and protests, and filing suits against UNLV and pro-Palestinian groups. She also represented one of the Republicans accused of submitting fake elector documents in the 2020 election.
Chattah, who graduated from Widener University School of Law in Pennsylvania and has been practicing law in Nevada since 2002, was elected Republican national committeewoman in January 2023. The current acting U.S. attorney for Nevada is Sue Fahami.
