A Delta Air Lines flight departing Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport had a close call with a U.S. Air Force T-38 jet, triggering alarms in the cockpit of the Airbus A319. The incident occurred during a regularly scheduled flight to Minneapolis-St. Paul with 131 passengers and five crew members on board. The flight crew successfully maneuvered the aircraft with the help of the Traffic Collision Avoidance System. No injuries were reported, and Delta Airlines stated that safety is their top priority. The Delta flight arrived in Minneapolis-St. Paul 10 minutes late following the incident. The Air Force did not immediately comment on the incident. The close call comes after numerous aircraft crashes and mishaps this year, including the collision of an American Eagle flight with an Army helicopter over the Potomac River that resulted in 67 fatalities. NBC News producer Jay Blackman and breaking news reporter Dennis Romero contributed to the report.
