Melissa Samuel is the mastermind behind Finesse Your Claws, a bespoke 3-D nail art brand based in Brooklyn’s Bushwick neighborhood. Operating as a one-woman show, Ms. Samuel draws inspiration from influencer Alani Figueroa, also known as “Wuzg00d.” When Ms. Figueroa wore one of Ms. Samuel’s custom nail sets to a Moschino photo shoot, it caught the attention of designer Jeremy Scott, leading to a request for more sets. This success propelled Ms. Samuel to open her own studio in June 2020.
