US Rebukes Putin’s Call on Ukrainian Leadership While European Leader Expresses Skepticism on ‘Reassurance Force’ – Latest Updates on Ukraine War | World News

Ukrainian forces have reportedly made an incursion into Russia’s Belgorod region, according to Russian military bloggers. While neither Kyiv nor Moscow have confirmed these reports, Russian defense ministry mentioned thwarting Ukrainian attempts to cross the border into Belgorod. Ukrainian military has not commented on the situation, possibly for operational security reasons.

There have been heavy clashes in settlements like Popovka and Demidovka, with reports of Ukrainian soldiers being surrounded by Russian forces. The Ukrainian operation may be a distraction tactic as Russian forces try to push out the last remaining Ukrainian troops from Kursk. Military analyst Emil Kastehelmi believes Ukrainian forces have advanced about 3-4 km into Russian territory.

However, Kastehelmi doubts that Ukrainian forces can make a significant breakthrough in Belgorod to threaten Russian logistical routes or cities. He states that while the Ukrainians may take control of some villages along the border, it is unlikely to have a major operational or strategic impact.

The situation remains fluid and unconfirmed, with conflicting reports from various military blogs. The Russian presence in the region is reported to be strong enough to successfully conduct defensive operations against any Ukrainian advancements.

Overall, the incursion into Belgorod by Ukrainian forces appears to be a tactical move rather than a strategic breakthrough. The situation is being closely monitored by military analysts and experts, as the conflict between Ukraine and Russia continues to evolve.
