Nevada National Guard Activated for Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix Security

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — In preparation for the highly anticipated Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix, which will take place from November 20-24, the Nevada National Guard will be activated to enhance security and emergency response measures throughout Clark County. The deployment will involve up to 80 soldiers and airmen stationed in key locations, including the bustling Las Vegas Strip and two local hospitals.

Col. Kyle Cerfoglio, Director of the Nevada National Guard Joint Staff, emphasized the importance of this initiative: “The activation underlines our ongoing partnership between the Nevada National Guard and local emergency response agencies, showcasing their commitment to public safety and effective collaboration during a major sporting event.” This marks the second consecutive year the National Guard has been called upon to assist first responders in ensuring a safe environment for attendees.

With an expected attendance of nearly 300,000 spectators at this year’s race, the collaboration between military personnel and local authorities aims to provide a robust safety framework, addressing potential security concerns while allowing guests to enjoy the event.

As preparations continue, local officials encourage residents and visitors to stay informed about road closures and detours associated with the upcoming grand prix festivities, ensuring a smooth experience as Clark County gears up for this prestigious event. The partnership between the Nevada National Guard and local emergency services highlights the proactive measures being undertaken to maintain public safety throughout one of Las Vegas’s most prominent sporting gatherings.
